Marketplace standards

What must be clear before the first delivery.

Updated September 13, 2026 · Pre-launch standard

GoShip is not yet offering deliveries. These standards set the public baseline GoShip will use to finish the marketplace responsibly. Final market-specific terms, prices, coverage, and screening disclosures must be available before a User pays for or a Shipper accepts a delivery.

On this pageNo active delivery marketplaceShipper eligibilityVehicle and package-fit rulesShipper activation and screeningInsurance and responsibilityOffer details, pay, fees, and taxesCancellations, refunds, and failed deliveriesSafety and prohibited deliveriesSupport, incidents, and disputesHow these standards relate to GoShip's terms

Current status: pre-launch

No active delivery marketplace

Joining the driver list or creating an account does not authorize delivery work, start screening, collect vehicle documents, create an order, or move money. GoShip will not activate paid deliveries until the launch items on this page are finalized and shown to the people they affect.

Shipper eligibility

At minimum, an active Shipper must:

  • Be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter an agreement.
  • Provide accurate identity and contact information.
  • Hold a valid driver's license for the vehicle being used.
  • Have at least one year of verifiable licensed driving history, or a market-specific equivalent approved by GoShip.
  • Use a legally registered vehicle and maintain insurance that permits the intended delivery use.
  • Have a compatible phone and be able to complete accepted deliveries safely, with reasonable accommodations where applicable.
  • Complete the market-specific onboarding and accept the Shipper agreement before seeing live offers.

A waitlist entry or GoShip account is not proof of eligibility. Local rules may require additional age, license, permit, training, or document requirements, which must be disclosed before activation.

Vehicle and package-fit rules

A delivery vehicle must be roadworthy, clean, dry, legally registered, and capable of securing the package without blocking the driver's view or interfering with safe operation. A Shipper may not use an unapproved substitute driver or vehicle.

GoShip's initial vehicle categories are passenger cars, hatchbacks, SUVs, minivans, cargo vans, and pickup trucks with an enclosed, lockable, weather-resistant cargo area. Motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles, open pickup beds, trailers, box trucks, and vehicles that require a commercial driver's license are outside the initial service.

Approval requires current registration, insurance for the approved vehicle, clear vehicle and cargo-area photos, and a safety attestation covering tires, brakes, lights, windows, mirrors, seat belts, warning indicators, and a secure cargo area. A Shipper must add and approve a replacement vehicle before using it.

License, registration, and insurance documents must remain current. GoShip will request renewal before an expiration date and pause Shipper access when a required document expires. Vehicle information and the safety attestation must be reconfirmed at least every 12 months. Shippers should also check for unrepaired safety recalls through the NHTSA recall lookup.

Shipper activation and screening

Current status: GoShip is not accepting screening applications through this website, and joining a launch list or creating an account does not run an identity, criminal-history, or motor-vehicle-record check. Choosing the Shipper role changes the account experience only; it is not approval to perform deliveries.

The activation sequence

  1. 1. Read the disclosureSee the named provider, exact checks, purpose, timing, and decision rules before providing sensitive information.
  2. 2. Give separate consentAuthorize any third-party consumer report through a dedicated, secure step—not through general website terms or email.
  3. 3. Complete secure checksSubmit required identity, driver's-license, vehicle, insurance, and screening information through approved secure systems.
  4. 4. Review the resultReceive an activation decision and a clear route to review or dispute information that may be incomplete or inaccurate.

Launch screening baseline

Before a Shipper can receive a live offer, GoShip's activation process must:

  • Confirm that the applicant's identity matches the account and the valid driver's license presented through the secure process.
  • Verify required vehicle registration and delivery-compatible insurance separately from the background report.
  • Use only checks that are lawful, safety-related, and disclosed for the applicant's market.
  • Apply written criteria consistently while honoring location-specific limits, notices, and individual-review requirements.
  • Restrict screening details to authorized people and retain them only for a documented operational or legal need.

Provider, decisions, and disputes

GoShip has selected Checkr as its planned launch screening platform because it supports identity verification, criminal-record searches, motor-vehicle records, candidate-facing workflows, and dispute handling. The current website is not connected to Checkr, cannot accept a screening application, and cannot order a report. The final package remains subject to provider approval and market-specific legal review.

The planned initial screening package includes identity and document verification, an SSN trace, national and applicable state and county criminal-record searches, sex-offender-registry and global-watchlist searches, and a motor-vehicle-record check. GoShip will repeat the MVR and eligibility review at least every 12 months and may require a new check after a reported safety event or lapse in eligibility, with fresh notice or consent where required.

An active Shipper must have a current license that is not suspended or revoked; no major driving offense—such as impaired driving, reckless driving, hit-and-run, or a vehicle-related felony—within the preceding seven years; and no more than three minor moving violations or at-fault crashes combined within the preceding three years. A longer or different period will apply when required by law, an insurer, or the reporting limits in the applicant's market.

Criminal-history information will not produce a blanket denial. GoShip will consider the nature and gravity of the conduct, time passed, relationship to transporting people's property, accuracy of the record, and information supplied by the applicant. An arrest without a conviction will not by itself establish that conduct occurred. Final criteria and any market-specific additions must appear in the disclosure before consent.

If a future decision may rely on a third-party consumer report, GoShip will provide the notices and report information required for the applicant to review the result before a final adverse decision, then provide a final notice and the provider's contact information when required. Applicants will be able to dispute inaccurate or incomplete information with the provider and contact GoShip about the decision process. Learn more from the FTC's background-check guidance, the CFPB's consumer-report overview, and the EEOC's criminal-record guidance.

Insurance and responsibility

GoShip does not currently provide Shipper auto, collision, cargo, occupational-accident, or commercial liability coverage. For initial launch, each Shipper must carry an active policy or endorsement that expressly permits compensated delivery use and provides at least $100,000 bodily-injury liability per person, $300,000 per accident, and $50,000 property-damage liability, or higher limits required by the Shipper's market. Personal auto coverage may exclude business delivery activity.

The Shipper must upload renewed proof before the current policy expires; an expired or canceled policy pauses access to offers. GoShip will verify coverage with the carrier or approved verification service when available. Any future platform coverage will be supplemental and will be published with its limits, deductibles, exclusions, claim instructions, and coverage periods before it takes effect. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners provides an overview of personal and business auto insurance.

Offer details, pay, fees, and taxes

GoShip does not currently process delivery payments. Joining the launch list and creating an account are free. GoShip has selected Stripe Connect with Express connected accounts as its planned launch payment and payout platform. Stripe is not connected to the current website, and this site cannot authorize a card, store payment details, create a connected account, or move money.

User minimum$12

Minimum delivery charge before service fee, tax, or tip.

Shipper minimum$9

Minimum base offer before bonuses or tips.

Tips to Shippers100%

GoShip does not keep any portion of a customer tip.

User launch price

The initial delivery charge will be the greater of $12 or $7 plus $1.25 per route mile and $0.25 per estimated driving minute. A package over 25 pounds or longer than 36 inches adds one $5 heavy-or-bulky surcharge. The User service fee will be 12% of the delivery charge, with a $2 minimum and $10 maximum. Required taxes and an optional tip are added separately.

The app must display route miles, estimated driving time, each fee, tax, optional tip, and the authorized total before the User confirms. The quote locks when a Shipper accepts. It may increase only when the User approves a changed address, package, stop, or handling requirement; GoShip will not use undisclosed surge pricing at initial launch.

Shipper launch pay

Base pay will be the greater of $9 or $5 plus $0.90 per route mile and $0.20 per estimated driving minute. An eligible heavy-or-bulky request adds $4. Shippers receive 100% of customer tips and the full promotion shown in the offer. There is no signup, subscription, bidding, or standard-payout fee for Shippers, and GoShip bears ordinary card-processing costs.

Before a Shipper accepts an offer, the offer must show:

  • Pickup and drop-off areas, estimated distance and time, and package requirements.
  • Base pay, heavy-or-bulky pay, promotions, confirmed tips if shown, and every permitted deduction.
  • The guaranteed offer amount and the conditions that could add return or waiting pay. GoShip will not reduce an accepted base offer because demand falls, a User payment later fails, or a completed trip takes less time than estimated.

Authorization and capture

GoShip's planned flow will place a card authorization for the displayed total when a User confirms and capture it after delivery is completed. If a request ends earlier, GoShip will capture only an applicable cancellation, failed-pickup, or return amount and release the remainder. A delivery will not be offered until payment is authorized. Stripe webhooks—not a browser success screen—must confirm each payment, refund, transfer, and payout state.

Payout timing

Completed earnings become eligible after proof of delivery is recorded and the related payment is captured. Free standard payouts of at least $1 will be sent each Monday for the prior Monday-through-Sunday available balance; smaller balances carry forward. Bank processing is expected to take one to three business days, and holidays, new-account holds, compliance reviews, or failed bank details can delay arrival.

Eligible Shippers may request an Instant Payout from available funds for a 1% fee shown before confirmation. GoShip will not add a markup to that fee. Provider eligibility, limits, supported debit cards, and bank processing control availability and timing. GoShip may hold only earnings reasonably connected to fraud, a safety incident, a refund, or a charge dispute, must state the reason, and must continue paying unrelated eligible earnings.

Tips and taxes

A tip may be added before checkout or within 24 hours after completion. GoShip will transfer 100% of it to the Shipper and absorb ordinary processing costs. A pre-delivery tip is refunded if the delivery is not completed; a completed-delivery tip is final unless it was unauthorized, duplicated, or entered in error.

GoShip will show any tax charged to a User before confirmation. Shippers are responsible for tracking and reporting their earnings and expenses and for paying taxes unless withholding is legally required. Stripe-hosted onboarding will collect payout and tax information, and GoShip or Stripe will provide applicable tax forms when required. Income can be taxable even if no form is issued; the IRS gig-work tax guide provides current general information.

GoShip's planned use of Stripe Connect, Express onboarding, and destination charges remains subject to Stripe approval, final accounting review, and market-specific legal and tax review before checkout is enabled.

Cancellations, refunds, and failed deliveries

A Shipper may decline an unaccepted offer without penalty. A fee can apply only when the app disclosed it before confirmation and the recorded delivery state supports it.

No Shipper accepted

The User owes $0. GoShip cancels the authorization or refunds the full amount, and no Shipper payment is due.

Five-minute grace period

A User may cancel within 5 minutes after acceptance while the Shipper has not begun traveling to pickup. The User owes $0.

Shipper traveling to pickup

A User cancellation costs $5. The Shipper receives $4, GoShip retains $1, and the rest of the authorization is released or refunded.

Failed pickup caused by User

After a 10-minute wait and two contact attempts, an unavailable sender, prohibited item, or materially inaccurate package costs $8. The Shipper receives $6 and GoShip retains $2.

Return after pickup

If the User cancels after transfer or the recipient remains unavailable after a 10-minute wait and two contact attempts, the item returns to the sender. The original delivery charge remains due, and a return charge using the Shipper pay mileage-and-time formula is added without another User service fee. The Shipper receives the original offer plus the return charge.

Shipper or GoShip cancellation

When a request is not completed because of the Shipper or GoShip and the User did not cause the failure, the User owes $0. Any reasonable compensation GoShip grants for completed Shipper effort is paid by GoShip, not the User.

Refund timing

GoShip will initiate an approved card refund to the original payment method within two business days. Banks and card issuers generally take an additional five to ten business days to post it. The app must show the amount, reason, initiation date, and available refund reference. Payment-processing fees are not deducted from a User refund when GoShip or the Shipper caused the failure.

Loss and damage

A User must report a missing or damaged item through the delivery record within 48 hours and provide available photos, receipts, packaging evidence, and proof of value. GoShip will acknowledge a complete claim within two business days and target a written decision within ten business days.

For a verified loss or damage caused while the item was in a Shipper's custody, GoShip will refund the delivery and service fees and reimburse the lower of documented repair cost, replacement value, declared value, or $500. The item reimbursement excludes prohibited items, undisclosed value, inadequate packaging, ordinary wear, inherent defects, and indirect or sentimental loss. These limits do not remove rights that cannot legally be limited.

Payment questions and charge disputes

A User should report an unauthorized, duplicate, incorrect, or missing-refund charge through the delivery record within 60 days. GoShip will acknowledge it within two business days, target a decision within ten business days after receiving needed evidence, and correct confirmed errors promptly. This internal window does not shorten rights under applicable law or the User's card agreement.

GoShip will manage processor disputes and provide transaction evidence. It will not automatically reverse a Shipper's completed-delivery earnings merely because a User files a chargeback; any hold or adjustment must be tied to the disputed delivery, supported by the investigation, disclosed to the Shipper, and released if GoShip or the Shipper prevails. A User cannot receive both a GoShip reimbursement and a chargeback for the same loss.

Safety and prohibited deliveries

Users must describe packages accurately and provide safe, lawful pickup and delivery instructions. Shippers must obey traffic laws, secure packages, avoid handling the phone while driving, and stop if a delivery cannot be completed safely. In an emergency, contact local emergency services first and GoShip second.

Initial package limits

  • No package may exceed 50 pounds, 48 inches on its longest side, or 108 inches in combined length and girth.
  • A request may contain no more than 100 pounds total and must fit completely inside the approved enclosed cargo area.
  • The maximum declared value is $500 per request. Items must be closed, leak-resistant, and packaged to withstand ordinary vehicle transport.
  • Users must disclose dimensions, weight, value, fragile contents, and handling needs before a Shipper accepts.

Prohibited items

GoShip's initial service prohibits:

  • Illegal goods, stolen property, firearms, ammunition, weapons, explosives, fireworks, and hazardous, flammable, toxic, corrosive, or radioactive materials.
  • Controlled substances, cannabis, alcohol, tobacco, vaping products, prescription medication, and any age-restricted product.
  • Live animals, human remains, biological specimens, medical waste, and food or other goods requiring temperature control.
  • Cash, negotiable instruments, gift cards, precious metals, loose gemstones, irreplaceable documents, or property above the declared-value limit.
  • Unpackaged liquids, items requiring installation or entry into a private residence, and anything that exceeds the package or vehicle limits.

Support, incidents, and disputes

GoShip provides a structured support request form for account questions, active-delivery issues, safety reports, package damage, payment questions, and appeals. The form creates a ticket reference and accepts up to three JPG, PNG, WebP, or PDF evidence files. Email support@go-ship.co remains available for follow-up. Do not send passwords, government IDs, complete card or bank numbers, or unrelated personal information.

Emergency instructions tell people to contact local emergency services first. After live deliveries and staffed support begin, the launch target is 24/7 initial response to an active-delivery or safety request within 15 minutes. The current pre-launch target and the launch target for non-urgent cases is an initial response within two business days. GoShip targets a written decision within ten business days after it receives the information needed for a non-urgent claim or appeal.

After a collision, injury, threat, suspected prohibited item, theft, missing package, or serious damage, the Shipper must stop when safe, contact emergency services when needed, preserve the package and available evidence, and report the event as soon as safely possible and no later than 24 hours. GoShip may pause the delivery and Shipper account while it protects people, preserves evidence, confirms license or insurance status, and reviews the event.

The incident record may include delivery details, messages, timestamps, photos, receipts, witness or police information, and the actions taken. GoShip will give affected Users and Shippers a status update, written outcome, and an appeal path. A person may appeal within 14 days and provide corrections or additional evidence; someone not responsible for the original decision must review the appeal. Retention and reimbursement limits will follow the Privacy Policy and the final payment and claims terms.

How these standards relate to GoShip's terms

These standards are a public pre-launch commitment, not an offer of work, insurance policy, earnings guarantee, or substitute for legal, tax, or insurance advice. Market-specific agreements and disclosures may add requirements, but they should not hide or contradict the plain-language protections described here. See the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, or Support for the website's current rules.
